Lipilekha is now proud to sponsor a Mukti Support School at Vishalakkhipur. This will be done using an existing school facility located at Namkhana Block of Budhakhali Gram Panchayat in South 24 Pgs District in the Sunderbans.
Lipilekha will sponsor children in Classes 5-10, who would otherwise be married off or pushed into labor jobs by their families due to financial difficulties. These children will now be given hands-on, intensive help with their school curriculum every day to help them to eventually take the board exams. Along with that, physical health and moral responsibilities education as well as personality development lessons are also given to the students in the Mukti schools.
The support school is now operational and totally sponsored by Lipilekha. It enrolls local students, most of whom are fist generation learners, thereby making a huge impact in the immediate community.
We are immensely thankful to members who have donated and we look forward to the continued support so that we can keep up the good work in supporting the school.

Foster Teens Employment Network (FTEN) is a non-profit organization that does the unique and much required work of supporting teens that age out of Foster Care and are not adopted at that point. In US alone, over 20,000 kids age out every year and do not have the skills to face the next phase of life. 50% to 70% of them become homeless in the first six months of their aging out. Less than 2% graduate college. Over 70% end up in jails after committing petty crimes just so that they can be warm for the winter and get free meals.
Michael and Joy Goldstein have been working tirelessly to change this picture. The organization strives to secure employment for such children. That entails a plethora of defined and undefined services and challenges since each kid comes with a bag of unique problems. Whether it is helping with resume writing or procuring a driver’s licence or finding them a place to shower and do their laundry and dress up appropriately for an interview—this organization covers every difficult surprise in the lives of the FTEN young adults.
One of their recent endeavors is also to try to sponsor internships for the FTEN when there is an opportunity for the young adult to learn a skill in a workplace that would otherwise hesitate to train and pay them. A great number of FTENs find stability and meaning in their lives with the help of this organization under the leadership of the founder Michael Goldstein.
