A Message From The Philanthropy Secretary

Dear friends,
In June of 2023 I was elected as the Philanthropy Secretary of our organization to serve on the Executive Committee for two years. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being committed members of Lipilekha, our organization that I consider my family.

A bit about myself, especially to those who do not know me. I joined Lipilekha in 2002 after moving to Westchester. I served as member, General Secretary, President and Director of LBA over the years. And, after a hiatus of a few years, I have decided to serve as Philanthropy Secretary, a position that carries big responsibility since philanthropy is one of the core activities in our charter. My wife Kuhu has supported Lipilekha with me. Our two adult sons Anirban and Anandan, have known Lipilekha as a family since childhood where the kakus, kakis, meshos and mashis guided them towards their adulthoods. They attended Lipilekha Bangla School and formed life-long bonds with the other kids.

Our philanthropy activities have grown over the years. From its earliest activity of supporting Somsar primary school in Bengal, to currently supporting Mukti Support School in 24 Parganas, W. Bengal, annual scholarships under Mukti’s Talented Student Scholarship (TSS) program to two promising but needy scholars (a M.B.B.S. and a B.Sc) in West Bengal and local charities – Feeding Westchester, My Sister’s Place and Foster Teen Employment Network who are all doing exceptional social work. Additionally, we have generously donated towards several international humanitarian crises, such as blankets for the victims of Turkish earthquake and towards the Ukraine refugee crisis. I would like to thank the previous EC’s Philanthropy Secretary Sharmistha Dutta for involving Lipilekha in these worthy philanthropy causes. She has raised the bar which I must meet during my term.

I will look forward to your financial donations (personal and/or corporate) to allow us to carry out our worthy mission. I will also reach out to you who have adult children who are alumni of Lipilekha Pathshala for their email ids so that I can reach out to them for donations. Please feel proud when you donate for philanthropy to Lipilekha that you are making a big difference.
I encourage you to share any inputs and ideas for philanthropy. Please send an email to philanthropy@lipilekha.org.

Be well, be safe, be happy!
